These P-cars just keep multiplying! In the spring of 05, we just had to have a better garage. So, with great pain, we raided the savings account and wrangled some new digs. Naturally, as my wife and I are trying to get our money together (the worst possible moment), I get a call from a Rennlist buddy offering to sell his 87 Turbo. I won't bore you with the details but I could not pass up the deal....;]
That black turbo is now my daily commuter. It gets about 80 miles a day and slides along in the fast lane with the ease comfort of working AC. Except for DME chips and a little powder coating, it is original.
The red NA was sold to make room for a 911 and a 928. That red 944 was my first and was pretty thoroughly repaired, rebuilt and rejuvenated in the pages of this web site. It's paint work was completed in 08. It was a salvage title with some frame damage repair but a lot of fun. Not counting my labor, I had about $4000 in that car and it was worth every penny.
The blue turbo is slightly modified but still needs some attention to correct an encounter with a guard-rail. It has more miles than my other cars but is easily the strongest and tightest. At various times, this car has been my daily driver but for now it is relegated to quick runs up and down a few country roads.
In the winter of 08, I bought a down and out 911. In some ways this 77 Targa is a basket case. The engine was removed and locked up and a few minor parts had been pulled for another car. The engine turned out to be an easy fix, but getting it back together has been a slow return trip. Most of the car is sound though and I've learned a lot about the air cooled side of life.
And finally, that brings me to my latest project, an 83 928S. I'm still pretty new to the 928 world but dollar for dollar, the 928s may be the best value in older p-cars. This is a $3000 car with a 5 speed and 135k miles. It was running strong when I got it but but with a few small (yet serious) problems.
